Privacy Policy

Chesterfield is a media tracker for iPhone. We don't run servers, create accounts, show ads, or use analytics. This page explains what data the app handles and where it goes.

The short version

Data stored on your device and in iCloud

The titles you track, their status (Watching, On Deck, Watched), episode progress, shared lists, and preferences such as the streaming services you subscribe to are saved on your device with Core Data. If you're signed in to iCloud, this data syncs across your devices through Apple CloudKit, in your private iCloud database. Apple processes this data under the Apple Privacy Policy. The developer has no access to your iCloud data.

Shared lists

When you share a list, Apple's iCloud sharing makes that list's items visible to the people you invite, with the access level you choose. Participants can see the items on the shared list and, depending on their role, add, change, or remove them. Items you keep private are never shared. You can remove participants, or leave a list someone shared with you, at any time from within the app.

Third-party metadata services

To show posters, descriptions, cast, episodes, and streaming availability, Chesterfield sends requests straight from your device to the services below. These requests contain what you search for or the ID of the title being viewed, along with standard network information such as your IP address. They don't include your name, your lists, or any account identifier.

Sonarr and Radarr (optional)

If you connect a Sonarr or Radarr server, the address and API key you enter are stored on your device. When you request a download, the app sends the title's identifiers only to the server you configured. The developer never receives these settings or requests.

Notifications

Release and new-item alerts are local notifications created on your device. Checking for updates happens on your device, including during background refresh, using the services listed above. No push-notification server is involved.

Children

Chesterfield doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Deleting your data

Delete items or lists within the app, or delete the app to remove its local data. To remove synced data from iCloud, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage on your iPhone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
